FOR

U.S.A.P.A.F. Continues, Pyx - Lax Rassein Apaly, and Pan Machia fight rules and division; including Sanction, and Point Ratings

 

 

OFFICIALS (Responsibilities and Qualifications)

EPITHEORITIS (A.P.A.F. Inspector Chairman):

This chairman makes sure that the promoter has provided all the necessary requirements need by the W.P.H.U.P.A.F. before approving the competition. The inspector chairman cannot give the concent of the federation if he/she finds any dicrepancies with the promoters work. Also, The inspector chairman is in charge of checking credentials of all of the event officials.

Promoter:

The promoter is in charge of organizing the event meeting the W.P.H.U.P.A.F. requirements to insure a proper venue.

Arbitrator:

The arbitrator has to have complete knowledge of all of the W.P.H.U.P.A.F. competition rules. He/she will clarify or advise the coaches, competitiors, judeges, or referee on any questions which may arrise pretaining to the competition. the arbitrator hs the final word if a discrepency occurs.

The arbitrator shall present during weigh in process.

IATROS (Palestra Doctor):

The Palestra( Ring) Doctor’s main objective is to oversee the physical condition of competitors so as to avoid any serious injury.

· Palestra Doctor shall be board certified and be experienced in the field of Athlentic (Sports)Medicine.

Must be approved by the W.P.H.U.P.A.F. to be the palestra doctor in charge of the competition.

· Palestra Doctor shall provide his/her own emergency kit.

· In the event a serious injury does occur, the Doctor shall provide immediate aid to the fighter.

· The Palestra Doctor shall prep an injured fighter and assist the local emergency agency in the evacuation and transportation of patient to the nearest qualified facility.

· The Palestra Doctor shall remain aware of the progress of an injured fighter via cell phone throughout the competition.

· Palestra Doctor has the power to stop a bout based upon his/her professional prudence.

· Official disqualification of a fighter by the Palestra Doctor shall be noted by the judges and the ellanodiki by providing proof there of.

Palestra Doctor shall be present during the weigh-in, and check all of the fighters physical condition.

Kreitis (judge):

The judge's precedence is to objectively witness and score points during the competition as they see them, giving merit only to the skill and determination of the competitors. The judge(s) may consult the Igitor ellanodikis (Master referee) to help determine penalties and/or warnings, although the Igitor ellanodikis has the power to issue them.

· Judge(s) shall participate in the competition by invitation only, and must attain a certificat from the W.P.H.U.P.A.F. - World Pan Hellenic United Pankration Athelima Federation.

· Judge(s) shall have master experience of martial art competitions, preferably knowledgable of different forms and styles worldwide that are recognized by the W.P.H.U.P.A.F.

· Judge(s) shall determine a winner by majority vote.

· Judge(s) will be asked to vote on any disqualification.

· The majority vote of the judges are used to determine the winner at the end of the competition only.

One of the judge(s) shall present during weigh in process.

* No favoritism will be allowed when judging - If proven so, the offending judge will automaticall be removed from the competition perminantly and replaced by a new judge, and the competitor will be disqualified. Offending judge, and competitor have the right to petition the court to state their case.

Ellanodiki (referee):

The ellanodiki's main objective is to manage and preside the competition at all times. It is his/her duty to promote the safety of the competitors, enforce the rules, and ensure fair play. The Igitor ellanodiki should be the most experience official in the palestra and be thoroughly versed with the W.P.H.U.P.A.F. competition rules. He/she starts and stops the match, makes penalty decisions, administrates the voting of the judges, communicates clearly with the timekeeper and scorekeeper, and announces the winner of each match. A loud and clear voice, accompanied by appropriate hand gestures, should be used to indicate the competitor affected by the official decision.

· Has the power to start and stop the match

· Has the power to issue warnings to the competitors

Issues penalties only by majority decision of judges.

Disqualify competitors by majority decision of judges.

· Has the power to issue time-outs. A competitor can ask for a time-out, but it is the igtor ellanodiki agrees.

· A igtor ellanodiki, and all ellanodikis must be certified members of the Official W.P.H.U.P.A.F. Ellanodiki Committee.

· Certificates must be renewed annually.

· Certification testing shall be performed by the Official W.P.H.U.P.A.F. Ellanodiki Committee, and endorsed by the chairman of the referee committe and the president of the W.P.H.U.P.A.F.

· ellanodiki(s) shall present during weigh in process.

Grammateia (Secretary):

the secretary is the official records keeper for the competition. Any events that transpires during the competition will be written into the W.P.H.U.P.A.F official records.

Scorekeeper:

This official is appointed to keep track of the all judges' scores. During the emptyhand forms (oplomachia, pirinhi, and polidama) competitions, the scorekeeper will eliminate the high and the low scores, then add the remaining scores to attain the total score for each of the competitiors. The scorekeeper is the only official that can inform the igtor ellanodiki the total score for each competitors so that a winner can be declared. Any discrepancy or confusion of the score rests in the hands of the igitor ellanodiki, not the scorekeeper. The judge(s) and the igitor ellanodiki will make the final score decision.

Official score referee(s):

During the fighting competitions, this official is in charge of awarding points scored as he/she see them. their score will be given to the secretary which will then give the answere to the annoucer. After each fight, the score referee(s) will write down or flip scorecards at the command of the announcer. the igitor ellanodiki will then raise the victors arm.

Timekeeper:

The Timekeeper is appointed to keep accurate time of the match. He/she will start and stop time at the command of the igitor ellanodiki, and will inform the ellanodiki when the time has expired by ringing the bell.

* The Timekeeper’s duty is not to start or stop the match, but to keep accurate time for the Igitor ellanodiki.

Announcer:

The Announcers responsibility is to make all official announcements of the competition, and orchestrates the event. Any sponsor endorsement made by the announcer will be approved by the the W.P.H.U.P.A.F.

REMOVAL OF OFFICIALS

In the event that a competitor should feel that an official should be removed from any competition event, he/she must present their complaints to the A.P.A.F. Inspector Chairman in charge of the competition. The A.P.A.F. Inspector Chairman will then meet with the other event officials and make a decision at that moment.

PROTEST

An offending official or competitor has the right to protest the decision made by the event officials if he/she feels a wrong decision was made. All protest must be made in an orderly and proper manner. A written letter shall be made to the court commitee of the W.P.H.U.P.A.F. within thirty (30) days from the infraction. at which time the court committee will schedual a hearing.

ELLANODIKI (referee)

Appearance:

· All ellanodikis will practice cleanliness.

· Finger and toe nail(s) will be kept short.

· Uniforms will be kept clean at all times.

· No rings, watches or other jewelry shall be worn.

· No perfumes or colognes may be worn.

Endyma(Uniform)

· ellanodiki shall wear a traditional RED Endyma(Uniform) with Red en White maiandros Greek key running along the sleeves and pant legs.

· The W.P.H.U.P.A.F. shall be worn on the front left side of the Chitonion (jacket) over the heart.

The patch from their prespective national federation patch shall be worn on the right side of the Chitonion (jacket).

· An official Ellanodiki Commitee patch shall be worm on the lest arm of the Chitonion (jacket) near the shoulder.

· ellanodiki shall wear his/her Zoni (belt) over the Endyma.

ellanodiki shall wear wrestling type shoes inside the Palestra (Ring).

THE PALESTRA (ring)

The sacred arena filled with the breath and skill of the pankratiastes; where competitors meet to test their fighting skills, faith, courage, and the true olympic spirit. TON EN OLYMPIA TON KALISTON (The best in the Olympic games). The competitiors will respectfully follow the rules, and regulations of Dios Pyx - Lax Rassein Pankration competition festival. May the best fighter win!

 

The palestra design shall follow the specifications below:

· The Palestra shall consist of a wrestling style mat (for fighters safety) messuring 30ft. (10m) square. this area will contain another square messesuring 23ft. sq. (7m) with a 1ft "sponsorship" boarder. this inner square embody a 15ft (5m) circle containing a 6" border.

COMPETITOR

The competitor will be expected to know all rules and be ready for action when he/she is called for competition. When called to compete for forms, self defense, weapons, musical forms, and/or fight division, the competitor should promptly report to the appropriate palestra, present himself/herself to the ellanodiki suitably attired, and be physically prepared to compete. Jewelry and other objects that are considered a safety hazard; they are to be removed prior to the competition. If a competitor leaves the palestra after the competition begins and is not present when his/her name is called, their name will be called three additional times at palestraside. Failure to appear at palestraside when the competitor name is called will result in disqualification.

* The competitor should be prepared to compete when he/she is called upon to compete. Any late arrivals to the palestra area after the annoucer has called for the competitor's presence three additional times, will result in a disqualified.

* Competitors must present their deltio agona machiti D.A.M. (Competitors photo I.D. card) to the ellanodiki before competing.

Appearance:

· All competitors will practice cleanliness.

· Finger and toe nail(s) will be kept short.

· No rings, watches or other jewelry shall be worn.

· No perfumes or colognes may be worn.

· hair and/or beard need to be well groomed. Long hair must be tied.

ENDYMA (uniform)

Coaches/Instructors must register their school's uniform, logo, and any advertisement logos with the W.P.H.U.P.A.F. chairman before the competition starts. T-shirts, tank tops, and sweatshirts are allowed in forms, weapons, and fighting only if they are part of the contestant’s official school's uniform. the school’s name, logo, or style must be present on the uniform top. Removal of the uniform top in the form and weapons division will only be allowed if the removal is considered to be relevant to the artistic expression or safety of the contestant. *Shorts are not allowed, for any division. Shoes will not be allowed in fighting divisions, but will be accepted for form and weapons competitions. All shoes worn must be appropriate, and not damage the competition floor.

Any advertisment logos must be in good taste. No profanity or obsenity will be accepted as part of a logo even if it is artistically desing that way.

· Competitors will wear approved competition attire only.

· Competitor's uniform will bear their school logo, name, or style.

· Rank Zoni(belts) may be worn.

· No shoes are allowed during the fighting divisions.

W.P.H.U.P.A.F. chairman will make the final decision on whether or not a competitor's uniform is appropriate.

All shoes worn must be appropriate, and not damage the competition floor.

SAFETY GEAR

Competitors shall wear professional safety gear only. W.P.U.P.A.F. approved headgear, mouthpiece, hand wraps, gloves, elbow pads, knee pads, shin pads, foot pads, and groin cup (olympic style only) are mandatory for all competitors in fighting divisions. The igitor ellanodikis will check competitors equipment. If it is deemed unsafe, the competitor will be asked to change the equipment before he/she will be permitted to compete.

The individual competitor only shall furnish all equipment, and it is their responsibility to keep gear in good condition free of heavy taping, tears, or any other repairs that may cause injury to the opponent. Equipment with too many seams on the striking surfaces will not be allowed.

Hand pads: a soft padded surface must cover the fingers, wrist, ridge of the hand, back of the fist, knuckles, and any other striking surface of the hand. For continuous fighting, boxing or Pyx Lax Rassein gloves will be required. Youths will be required to use14- 16-ounce boxing gloves, and adults will be required to use 16-18-ounce boxing gloves.

Foot pads: a soft padded surface must cover the instep, sides, toes, ankles, and back of the heel and of the foot. The bottom of the foot does not have to be padded.

Headgear: The front, side, and back of the head must be completely covered by a padded surface.

* A properly fitted mouthpiece is required. Rib/chest guards are highly recommended for additional safety for child division.

WEIGH-INS & CATEGORIES

All Competitors fighting,Pyx Lax Rassein Apaly must be weighted in prior to the competition. Only one official weigh-in is required per competitor. All competitors must fight within his/her own weight division. Competitors cannot fight outside of their own weight division. Tournament personnel will conduct the weigh-in the morning of the competition and record competitor’s weight. Youth boys and girls will not be divided by weight, but by size according to a small, medium, large scale determined by officials of the tournament.

RANK RULE

All competitors are to compete at their highest-level belt division attained, and are not permitted to compete in lower ranked divisions. Experienced fighters are allowed to compete in the black belt division, but only at the discretion of their coach/instructor, and with the W.P.H.P.A.F. competition chairman's concent. Once a competitor begins competing in the black belt division, he/she must always compete in the black belt division.

LATE ENTERIES

Once a competition event has begun, and the enrollement for that division has been closed, no competitors can be added to that division. It is imperative that all competitors arrive promptly at the start of their competition event.

ORDER OF COMPETITION

Forms:

Once the final call for the form and weapon division has been made, the competitor’s cards will be collected. The first three competitors will perform before any scores are awarded. After the third competitor is finished, the first competitor will be called back to be scored followed by the second and third competitor.

* The purpose of this is to allow the judges to sample the skill of the competitors. All remaining competitors in the division will be judged in comparison to these first three competitors.

Fighting:

Once the final call for the fighting division has been made at ringside, the competition cards will be collected and counted to see if byes are required. If byes are needed, they will be picked randomly.

* To determine how many byes are needed, a bye chart will be used.

Matches will always be selected randomly, but certain allowances may be given to competitors matched up from the same school. If possible, they may be separated from each other in the first round only.

* Competitors may not pick whom they wan or do not want to fight.

MATCH CONDUCT

* All competitors shall abide themselves with sportsmanlike conduct.

The Igitor ellanodiki shall be the first to enter the Palestra followed by the competitors.

Upon entering the Palestra, a competitor shall bow and/or salute the judges stating their name and fighting form ready for action.

Competitors shall allow themselves to be examined by the center ellanodiki "Igitior" in charge. The Igitir ellanodiki will check the appearance of both fighters and all safety equipment making sure they meet standard specifications. Upon completion of this task, the center ellanodiki will call both competitors to the center of the Palestra

The Igitor ellanodiki will then briefly go over the competition rules. He’ll then ask if there are any questions from either fighter.

* Competitors should be well informed of the competition rules before entering the Palestra. Ignorance of competition rules can be grounds for disqualification.

The Igitor ellanodiki will bow in the fighters in the traditional manner: Both fighters will take their places in the Palestra, face the center ellanodiki and bow. The competitors will then bow to one another, followed by a handshake.

The Igitor ellanodiki will then signal the timekeeper to standby for the commencement of the bout.

All judges will then signal to the Igitor ellanodiki that they are ready by saying ETIMOS; "READY?".

The Igitor ellanodiki will signal the competitors to take their fighting stands and commence the action.

Only the Instructure or Coach is allowed to stand in the outer perimeter of the Palestra.

At all times, the competitors and Instructure/Coach will listen and follow the Igitor ellanodiki’s instruction.

No outburst of foul language or obscene gestures will be tolerated in the Palestra.

The igitor ellanodiki shall neither comment nor concede to any protest that may transpire outside the Palestra during the course of the bout.

In the event of a knockdown, the opposing competitor shall go to the neutral corner, turn his/her back to the center of the Palestra, and kneel until the center ellanodiki instructs otherwise.

At the completion of the bout, both fighters will again take their starting positions inside the Palestra; face the center ellanodiki and bow. The competitors will then bow to one another, followed by a handshake.

Both competitors will remain standing on their marks until the judges hand down their decision.

The Igitor ellanodiki will then congratulate both fighters, and raise the NIKITIS! (victor’s) arm.

WAYS TO WIN

IN MEANDROS PALY "PANMACHIA"

KO:
The opposing competitor is knocked unconscious and is unable to continue.

TKO:

The opposing competitor is given a "standing 8 count" at the end of which the Igitor ellanodiki stops the match because he/she feels that the competitor is unable to protect himself/herself adequately due to lack of response or senses.

Decision:

The competitor who attains the most points scored at the end of the allotted match time is declared winner.

Submission:

The opposing competitor "taps-out" due to a potentially dangerous hold, joint-lock, or choke.

Forfeit:

The competitor does not wish to continue in the match, and resigns from the action.

Disqualification:

Opposing competitor causes an infraction which the Igitor ellanodiki and judges deem grounds for a disqualification.

LEGAL TARGET AREAS

High areas:

Side of the head, and collarbone.

Middle areas:

Ribs, chest, and stomach area.

Lower areas:

The upper & inner thigh - side of the leg above the knee, lower calf - side of leg below the knee (depending on the level fight event).

ILLEGAL TARGET AREAS

Face, back and side of the neck, throat, back & spine, groin, lower legs, knees.

NON-TARGET AREAS

Hips, shoulders, buttocks, arms, and feet.

LEGAL TECHNIQUES

Moderate to Full contact along with controlled athletic Pyx - Lax Rassein Macheia techniques depending on the fight division.

ILLEGAL TECHNIQUES PANMACHIA

Illegal techniques are as follows: Strikes directly to the face, head butts, hair pulls, scratches, bites, elbows, knees, strikes to the eye of any type, any strikes to the head of a down competitor, slapping, grabbing and holding for longer than one second, blind techniques lacking control, sweeps, and any potentially dangerous move deemed unsafe in Athlentic Pyx Lax Rassein Pankration.

 

PINIS & PROIDOPIISIS / PENALTIES & WARNINGS

excessive contact or attacking illegal targets will be dealt with by one warning first, followed by a second warning and loss of a point for the round, followed by disqualification. Unsportsmanlike contact or malicious contact will be grounds for immediate disqualification if agreed upon by a consensus of the judges and center referee.

 

APOVOLI / DISQUALIFICATION

Federation has the right to disqualify any competitor.

POLYPSIFIA / MAJORITY VOTE

Points are awarded by a majority vote of all officials. The majority of officials do not have to agree on the same technique used but that the points were scored.

HRONO DIAKOPIS / TIME OUTS

Opponent says Stop in middle of match- when this happens it tells the judges that they do not wish to continue.

APOFASI / DECISIONS

 

When a match has gone past the designated time limit it will be up to the judges to decide who the winner is based upon the point system. Judges will give the scorekeeper their scores when instructed to do so by the ellanodiki at the end of the match only. The points will be totaled and the fighter with the most points will be the declared the winner of their individual fight. If at the end of the match both fighters have attained the same score, then a draw will be declared.

STALEMATE

 

Unanimous- All five (5) judges award a vote to the same contestant

 

EN THESI 8 METRIMATA / STANDING 8 COUNT

The ellanodiki has the right to issue a standing 8 count at any time during the competition if he feels the fighter has been seriously injured or impared. If the fighter in question has not composed himself/herself by the end of the count, and is declared unfit to continue in the fight by the ellanodiki and the ring doctor, the fight will be stopped and the opposing competior will be declare a winner by way of T.K.O. - Technical Knock Out.

* Any competitor suspected or found consuming any illegal substances to enhance performance prior to competition will be suspended (Testing will be prior to competition).

VATHMOLOGIA / POINT SCORING

A point is defined as a controlled legal sport karate technique scored by a competitor in-bounds and up-right (unless on a declared padded floor) without time being called that strikes a competitor with the allowable amount of focused touch contact. Points are scored individually or in any combinations thereof.

All legal hand technique that score will be awarded one (1) point.

All legal kicks to the body that score will be awarded one (1) point.

All legal kicks to the head will be awarded two (2) points.

All legal-jumping kicks to the body will be awarded two (2) points.

All legal-jumping kicks to the head will be awarded three (3) points.

All legal kicks to the legs above the knee will be awarded zero (0) points.

All legal takedowns by way of a leg sweep will be awarded one (1) point.

All legal takedowns by way of throws will be awarded two (2) points.

All legal escapes will be awarded one (1) point.

All legal reversal will be awarded two (2) points.

All legal submission (joint-locks, leg or arm extension, chokes, etc….) that are properly applied for more than 12 seconds, but does not result in a "tap-out" by the opposing competitor is considered a near fall and will be awarded three (3) points.

PERILISPIS AGONA, Over View

U.S.A.P.A.F.Continuous fight has no stoppage in the action. The winner of each match will be the competitor that scored the most number of quality punches and kicks and dominates the match. Face and head contact will be light contact to moderate contact and control contact will be maintained by hand selected and trained referees. Trained Center Referees will closely monitor head and face contact. The contact level is between point sparring, and kickboxing fight. The continuous fight division is Semi contact pyx-Lax Machia,but rather it is a fun, challenging, and safe form of Athletic Pyx-Lax Pankration Compatition.

Match durations

ANDRON, Men: Two (2) 3 minute rounds with a 1 min break between rounds.

GINEKON, Women: Two (2) 2 minute rounds with a 1 min break between rounds

EFIVON, Youth: One (1) continuous 3 minute round.

PAIDON, CHILDREN One (1) continuus 2 minute round

SIMIA, Scoring

Legal target areas: Body, chest, sides, face and head.

Illegal target areas: Legs, groin, neck, back of head, spine.

Legal techniques: All kicking techniques, front leg sweeps, (kicks to the thigh; adult only), Jabs, crosses, hooks, and (uppercuts, and face contact; Adults only),

Illegal Techniques: Spinning backfist, elbows, hammerfist, knees, head strikes, finger strikes, and heel kicks.

You may never sweep when an opponent is kicking. You may sweep with your front boot, toe-to-heel, and heel-to-heel to the other person front boot. No sweeps with your rear or front leg to the opponent's rear leg. The sweeps intent is to unstable your opponent and must be immediately followed up with a legal technique.

No fighting permitted on the ground. A competitor should guard themselves at all times.

Judging
Each match will be scored by 3(local & state) or 5(national & international) score judges that will give their scorecards to the official secretary at the end of the fight. The secretary will then add all of the judges scorecards to attain a total score. The winner of the fight will be the competitor that earns the most points at the end of the fight. The announcer will then call the winner of the fight by calling out each of the judge's scores, and the center referee will then raise the winner arm in victory.

In case of a stalemate, a continuing one (1) minute fight for local & states events, and a two (2) minutes fight for national & international events will be fought to declare a winner. If after this tie breaking round the match is still in stalemate, an additional round will be fought for local & state events were the first point scored wins. For national & international events, a one (1) minute fight will be fought were the most points scored will declare the winner. If in the extreeme event the fight is still tied after this last round, then the match will continue with an additional first point scored wins round.

Infractions
Unintentional
excessive contact or attacking illegal targets will be dealt with by one warning first, followed by a second warning and loss of a point for the round, followed by disqualification. Unsportsmanlike contact or malicious contact will be grounds for immediate disqualification if agreed upon by a consensus of the judges and center referee.

Uses hands, feet, and body to put opponent on ground. No punches, kicks, Elbow, knee strikes, or heel strikes are allowed. A sweep must be proper and not a kick. The purpose of a sweep is not to takedown an opponent, but rather to disrupt his/her balance in order to be immediately followed up with a Athlentic Pyx Lax Rassein Pankration technique. This technique is to be executed to the back of the front leg at mid-calf or below only. Competitors cannot strike a downed opponent in rassein apaly competitions. A competitor should guard themselves at all times.

Hronos Agonismatos

Every form or weapons routine cannot be more than three minutes long. This time is counted from the time the competitor enters the palestra to compete. Judge will count the following: a clean uniform, introduction (name, style and name of kata schiamahia (form), focus, balance, concentration, flexibility, speed, coordination and time.

Time Limit:

The time limit will be a maximum of three minutes from the time the competitor enters the ring. If a form exceeds this time period, the competitor will be disqualified.

 

Oplomachia

Scoring ranges of Form and Weapons:

The scoring range for Black Belt Grand champions will be from 9.50 to 10.00 points. The scoring range for black belts will be from 8.00 to 9.00 points. The scoring range for Dokimos,Advanced belts will be from 7.00 to 8.00points. The scoring range for Dokimos,Intermediate, belts will be from 6.00 to 7.00 points.

Time Limit:

The time limit will be a maximum of three minutes from the time the competitor enters the ring. If a form exceeds this time period, the competitor will be disqualified.

Isopalia / Ties:

All ties within 2nd to 4th place will be figured by calculating the score including the high and low scores. If the tie cannot be broken this way, the majority of the judge's scores will be used. If there is still a tie, the competitors will perform again to break the tie. All ties for 5th to 8th place are not run off. All ties for first place will require the competitors to perform again in order to break the tie. The competitors will perform again and the first place winner will be chosen by the judges pointing to the competitor that he/she believes to be the best.

Skiamachia

Soft/Hard/Olympic Styles:

All competitors competing in these divisions are expected to exhibit a form that reflects the traditional values of the style name in which they are competing. The form does not have to be a classic, but it should contain the style's classical form movements. The competitor can be disqualified or his/her score affected if he/she does not comply.

Time Limit:

The time limit will be a maximum of three minutes from the time the competitor enters the ring. If a form exceeds this time period, the competitor will be disqualified.

 

Pirinhi

Musical Form Division:

Judges will expect that the music be synchronized with the moves of the form. The beats and the rhythm of the music should be coordinated with the movements of the form.

Oplomachia

Weapon Form Division:

Any competitor who unintentionally drops his/her weapon will be disqualified automatically. Any competitor that recklessly misuses his/her weapon may be penalized or disqualified.

Polydamas consists of one competitor with no weapons in hand versus five other competitors that are armed with weapons in their hands. The matches consist of a minimal 5 to 8 minute competition for men, 3 to 5 minutes for women, 3 minutes for young adults, and 2 minutes for youth.

Every form or weapons routine cannot be more than three minutes long. This time is counted from the time the competitor enters the palestra to compete. Judges will count the following: a clean uniform, introduction (name, style and name of schiamahia (form), focus, balance and stance, concentration, flexibility, speed, coordination and time. You must show use of weapon. You can not only hold weapon without a form. All moves are allowed in music competition.

OPLOMACHIA RULES (Weapon Forms)

 

The center judge before the competitor performance must check all Weapons for safety purposes.The judges should not de intimidated by gymnastic moves, and kicks, the judging is solely based on weapon control. Dance moves will not be accepted or tolerated during a forms performance. (This is a Pankration Competition, no tsipteteli, dancing. Theatrical costumes including heavy make-up, masks or any type of uniform that is not recognized as a legal uniform by official. All of these infractions may result in immediate Disqualification.
